Mahatma Gandhi Lift Irrigation Project Stage - 1 (5 x 30 MW)

The Mahatma Gandhi Lift Irrigation Project (Stage 1) was designed to lift and channel water from the Krishna River to irrigate the drought-prone zones of Mahabubnagar District.
 Varks played a pivotal role in executing complex civil works, ensuring efficient water conveyance and optimized hydraulic performance to support Telangana’s irrigation objectives.

Scope of Work

Execution and construction of:

  • Pump House Complex including approach channel
  • 400m Intake Tunnels and Surge Pool
  • Draft Tube Tunnels and Pump House structure
  • Delivery Lines and Cistern for effective water discharge

Outcome

The Mahatma Gandhi Lift Irrigation Project (Stage 1) successfully delivers large-scale irrigation benefits to Telangana’s farmlands, through precision tunneling, intake design, and pump infrastructure.
